Activists with Jumpstart Ford literally cast a light on Ford's environmental record. In Los Angeles, CA and in Dearborn, MI - activists used high-powered light projectors to cast 30-foot images on buildings addressing Ford's oil addiction. This was part of the Nov 12th international "Day of Intervention" at Ford dealerships across North America.

After a summer-long campaign to build support for clean car technology, The Road to Detroit (a project of Energy Action) culminates in the delivery to Ford Motor Company of 15,000 clean-car pledges and 7000 signatures from citizens who’ve declared independence from oil. For the first time, the United Autoworkers (Local 600) join student activists to insist that Ford build “Green cars not gas guzzlers.”

The Jumpstart Ford campaign debuts its first flash animation.
RAN and GX are joined by peace and justice activists to Declare Independence from Oil, where over 7000 people signed the online Declaration.

Ford bond debts are downgraded to ‘junk status’ on the eve of Ford’s shareholder meeting held in Wilmington, Delaware. Global Exchange and Bluewater Network introduce a shareholder’s resolution asking Ford to tie executive compensation to greenhouse gas emissions reductions. Ecopledge and US PIRG introduce a resolution asking Ford to disclose federal lobbying expenditures.

April 1st becomes the second annual Fossil Fools Day, with over 200 actions targeting ‘Fossil Fools’ in North America, including 150 actions at Ford dealerships. Partnering with RAN and GX include Energy Action, the Sierra Club, Ecopledge, USPIRG, and Bluewater Network. Actor Woody Harrelson joins the protest in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Activists begin a new initiative to ‘Adopt a Dealer’ to convince Ford dealers to join the campaign to dramatically improve Ford’s fuel efficiency and eliminate greenhouse gas pollution.

RAN founds the first eight Oil Addicts Anonymous Chapters during an organizing tour of the US Heartland. RAN organizers tour the Midwest in a hybrid car to educate Americans about oil addiction, local tactics to combat it, and cutting-edge national campaigns to transform the auto industry, end destructive oil investments, and usher in a clean energy revolution.. The tour culminated in a weekend long Oil Addiction Summit in Chicago, where RAN trained more than 50 individuals who are ready to face America’s Oil Addiction head on.
Global Exchange and Rainforest Action Network are honored by the Electric Automobile Association for success in derailing Ford’s plans to crush the zero-emission Ford Th!nk City and Ford Ranger EV pickup trucks.

To save Ford’s last Ranger EVs, RAN and GX join with loyal Ford customers Dave Raboy and William Korthof in an eight-day ‘car-sit’ outside Downtown Ford in Sacramento. The activists refuse to leave the petroleum-free, pollution-free pickup trucks until Ford offers them an opportunity to purchase the title to their zero-emission vehicles.
